UPDATE COVID-19

Beginning Tuesday 3/17/2020, the Library will be CLOSED until further notice.

The Library book drop is closed. Patrons are encouraged to keep their library items at home until normal library operations resume. The due dates on library materials have been extended to June 30, 2020. If necessary, this date will be pushed back so no fines accrue due to library closures.

With concern for the health of patrons, staff, and the greater community, the library will be closed until further notice in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision to reopen and resume delivery services will be made with guidance from local and state government agencies.

We would like to provide an update on services:  We will not be available to take phone calls personally, but will periodically check voicemails. We promise to continue to be there for you through our online outlets such as Facebook and our website, www.marionlib.org.

OWWL library cardholders have access to many online resources including downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines through Overdrive; language learning with Mango Languages; databases, journals, and periodicals for students and adults through NOVELNY; genealogy research with Ancestry.com; and local history research with New York Heritage Collections and NYS Historic Newspapers. For more information or to access these services visit www.owwl.org.

The Pioneer Library System (PLS) has increased access to digital resources. If you don’t have an OWWL library card and live in our service area, you can now register for a digital card. Visit https://owwl.overdrive.com/ for more information.

Many of our system member libraries have started to provide virtual programming and storytimes using Facebook, YouTube, and Zoom. Visit their individual social media pages and websites for more information. Additionally, PLS and the Marion Library are using social media to push out information related to health, technology, education, social services, and our local communities.

If there are questions please contact MarionLibraryDirector@owwl.org

It is important that we come together as a community to take the necessary precautions to assist in controlling the spread of COVID-19. On behalf of staff and the board of trustees, we hope those reading this are able to maintain their safety and health from this virus, and pray this passes quickly by so that we can all be together again soon. Be well, friends.

We thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we respond to and evaluate rapidly growing COVID-19 concerns. To read more about COVID-19, please visit the Wayne County Health Department or the New York State Department of Health.

This page will be used as the resource for users who wish to know what steps the Library is taking in light of COVID-19.
